Playing for a National Basketball Association team is a financially rewarding career. It comes with plenty of hard work and dedication, both in terms of playing games and training. In the modern game, diet and lifestyle also play a significant role for successful NBA players, but the sacrifice is worth it when you are at the top of the profession.

Thanks to the significant amounts of money earned by the leading NBA players, individuals have made some interesting and exciting purchases over the years, including celebrations. Despite having to remain in great condition throughout the season, success should be celebrated and after winning an NBA Championship in 2012, the Miami Heat players, including LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade headed out to a bar. The tab at the end of the night came to a staggering $200,000, which is more than most people will spend on nights out in their entire lifetime.

Do you think the Miami Heat are going to win their fourth NBA Championship in 2021 or will the Los Angeles Lakers successfully defend their title? If you would like to have a wager on the outcome of the NBA Championship, why not try William Hills new sportsbook in Illinois? William Hill has become one of the most popular sports betting brands in the United States and you will find a huge selection of sports and markets, including the odds for the NBA Championship.

Remaining with the theme of bars and drinking, the late Kobe Bryant could not resist but purchase 15 bottles of Cristal, at a cost of $1,400 each. The reason why Kobe decided to purchase the bottles was not because he wanted to drink them with friends and celebrate but because he saw poker star Antonio Esfandiari buy a couple of bottles. Not wanting to be outdone, Kobe purchased 15 bottles but left the venue without drinking a single drop.

In one of the stranger purchases by an NBA player, Danny Granger decided he wanted a Batcave. When discussing the decision, Granger said, “Actually the builder called me and told me he found a nice little feature, a lift for my car, kind of like Batman had. It’s in the works, it’s a process. [The Superhero stuff] is just a big thing I’ve been a part of. I love Superman, love Batman. It’s just the way I’ve been always.”

Going into further detail, Granger continues, “It’s based on the Batcave from the first set of Batman movies — starting with Michael Keaton,” Granger said. “It will have a few aspects from the Christian Bale movies, like a drive-in pathway or tunnel that lights up as you drive through it. It’ll also have this kind of circular island, where you park your car on this big circle, and the circle spins, so that you never have to back the car out.”

Not every big purchase made by an NBA player turns out as expected and Scottie Pippen was in for a shock when he purchased a jet. The bit about buying the jet is not the story here, it is the fact it did not work. Having already spent $4 million on the jet, Pippen was then forced to spend a further $1 million to get it repaired. However, it turned out the plane could not be repaired and it never left the ground.

Finally, we come to Gilbert Arenas, who’s career was somewhat of a rollercoaster but he knew how to spend his money. The three-time NBA All-Star bought a $3.5 million mansion but that was not enough for Arenas, who wanted to add his own touch to the place by installing a shark tank. Not only was the initial installation of the tank expensive, but it also cost over $6,000 per month to run.
