LeBron James and LaMelo Ball faced off for the first time last night as the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Charlotte Hornets. The reigning NBA champions ended up victorious as James dropped 37 points in 36 minutes of play. Ball, for his part, also had a big game with 26 points in 33 minutes.

After the game, LeBron was asked about his impressions on LaMelo and similarities with his older brother Lonzo with whom James played during his first year as a Laker.

“He’s damn good to be his age,” the four-time NBA champion said of Melo. “His speed, his quickness, his ability to make shots at all facets in the paint, floaters, threes. He has a three-tier already. He’s going to only get better every game has a learning experience for him.

“He’s going to get better and better as the season goes on, as his career goes on and so on and so on. Him and Zo are two just very unique players in our league and they showcase that every night.”
