The Oklahoma City Thunder are finalizing a trade to send Trevor Ariza to the Miami Heat for Meyers Leonard and a 2027 second-round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Leonard had to waive his no-trade clause for the trade to go through.

Leonard will in fact sign his trade consent and the trade will go through, notes Shams Charania.

Once the trade is completed, there’s no expectation that Leonard would be a part of the Thunder moving forward, as the team likely won’t ever bring him to Oklahoma City, but it’s expected that he’ll remain on the roster at least through the trade deadline in case he’s involved in another deal, according to Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman.

The deal is expected to be completed today.

Leonard, 29, was recently fined $50,000 and suspended from Heat team activities after he used an anti-Semitic slur on a Twitch video game live stream.

He is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

Ariza, 35, has not played this season after he reached an agreement with the Thunder to have him spend the season away from the team.

He last played 21 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last season and averaged 11.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

Once he eventually joins the Heat, Ariza will get to compete for a red-hot team that has won 11 out of their last 12 games and five-in-a-row.

Ariza has now been traded 11 times in his career, the most by any player in NBA history, per StatMuse.
