Detroit Pistons’ Killian Hayes nears return

Killian Hayes is pretty close to returning in action, as the Detroit Pistons announced earlier. The rookie guard has only played seven games for his team before sustaining a torn labrum in his right hip.

Hayes could be available to play again in 2-3 weeks time, the rookie told the media on Tuesday. Hayes is considered a foundational piece for the Pistons’ young core.

“I was just talking with the doctors and it’s probably like two to three weeks,” Hayes said Tuesday. “That’s the date that we have.”

The Pistons announced Tuesday that Hayes is cleared for on-court basketball activities, but he’ll be in what the team is calling a “phased progression”, which will lead to full-contact practices and game action.
