Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis could be sidelined for the next three weeks and possibly beyond, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

This updated timeline comes after the Lakers announced last week that Davis would be re-evaluated in two weeks to check the progress of his tendinosis and his right calf strain.

“The Lakers will be overly cautious in their approach to working Davis back even at the cost of slipping in the standings, which has occurred,” notes Haynes.

Davis, 28, has been out since Feb. 14.

Without Davis for the foreseeable future, the Lakers are monitoring some players who could be traded or bought out by their respective teams.

Andre Drummond is the Lakers’ primary target, but if they can’t sign the Cleveland Cavaliers’ big man, Sacramento Kings center Hassan Whiteside will be a contingency option.

Whiteside is only averaging 14.6 minutes per game in 23 games this season, but he would have the opportunity to step into an important role for the Lakers if he ultimately ends up there.
