This season, three players are dominating the odds for the MVP award as Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic and LeBron James are leading the race.

Other names, like Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry, are also made their case, while LeBron’s candidacy has started to tail off after the injury of Anthony Davis in recent weeks.

Charles Barkley referred to another player, who could be in the race for the MVP award in his opinion. In particular, ‘Chuck’ talked about Chris Paul’s candidacy.

Barkley mentioned Paul’s name in a heated debate on Thursday’s episode of Inside the NBA. The Suns have the second-best record in the NBA at 25-11.

However, Shaq deemed that the award is not based on the team’s success. Barkley said team matters as he referred to Steve Nash as an example.

Paul has really helped the young Suns with his presence as he averages 16.1 points, 8.8 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in 31.8 minutes per game.

Phoenix won 14 of their last 16 games with Paul and Booker running team and being one of the most dominant backcourts of the NBA.
