Wizards avoid COVID-19 scare after players, Scott Brooks entered protocols

Coming back from the All-Star break, the Washington Wizards were without four players and head coach Scott Brooks due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

Despite the scare, the four players and Brooks have been cleared and will be available against the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night.

The four players, who were not publicly named by the team, were cleared on March 9.

Brooks wasn’t able to coach the team in practice and had not been cleared until today.

There was some lingering question about Brooks’ ability to clear protocol for the game in Memphis, but he’s tested negative and will be on the sidelines for the start of the second half of the season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Wizards will begin the second half with everyone available except Thomas Bryant, who is out with a torn ACL, and Ish Smith, who is out with a quad injury.

The Wizards have won eight of their last 11 games and will look to keep the momentum going.
