Donovan Mitchell claimed he and the Jazz are not seeking the approval of LeBron James as he shared his opinion prior to Sunday’s All-Star matchup.

Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were the last two players that got selected in the All-Star draft with Kevin Durant choosing Donovan Mitchell and James ended up getting Rudy Gobert.

After analyst Charles Barkley commented on the final two players left in the draft, James defended the decision for not selecting either of the Jazz superstars.

(via Bleacher Report):

“There’s no slander to the Utah Jazz,” James said. “You guys gotta understand, just like in video games growing up, we never played with Utah. Even as great as Karl Malone and John Stockton was, we would never pick those guys in video games. Never.”

“I don’t want to be rude but I really don’t care,” Mitchell said on James comments, via Sarah Todd of the Deseret News. “People have been talking s–t about me for a while…we’re not doing this to seek the approval of him.”

The Jazz are leading the NBA with a 27-9 record as Mitchell and Gobert are the two best players in a well-rounded team for head coach Quinn Snyder.

Mitchell is averaging 24.7 points and 5.4 assists for the Jazz, while Gobert puts up 14.2 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game.
