Blake Griffin could potentially end up with the Los Angeles Lakers, the city rivals of his first NBA team the Clippers. The Detroit Pistons were unable to find a trade for the 31-year-old forward and are leaning toward buying out his contract.

According to Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, three teams are monitoring Griffin’s situation, namely the Lakers, Nets and Heat. He is currently on a five-year, $171 million contract which runs through the next season. Griffin is set to earn $36.6 million this year and close to $39 million the next one.

Former number one draft pick and a six-time NBA All-Star has not played since February 12 when the Pistons decided to sit him out until his future is resolved.

The 2011 Rookie of the Year appears to not be motivated in Detroit. He is having his worst season of his career thus far in terms of statistics.

Griffin is averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this year while his career average, which includes this season as well, is 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
