Dallas Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle Reflects On His Time In Seattle

On Thursday afternoon, Kevin Garnett shared on his Instagram Story, that his investment group is out of the race to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported Garnett’s reaction as he takes a shot at Wolves owner Glenn Taylor. Garnett also shared that he is not done with wanting to own an NBA team, as he suggests Seattle or Las Vegas. Both cities have been rumored to be first in line when the NBA decides to expand.

“Sooo just got the news that this process in trying to acquire the TWOLVES IS OVER for me [and] my group,” KG said. “Thx Glen for being yourself n what I Kno you to be!!! GOOD LUCK n aww the best with WHAT WE BUILT.”

“Crazy that some of these players that helped build these fuxin Franchises like a home but can never own them, only rent them,” he said.

“GTFOH ISHHH IS A JOKE … Fux em doe … your loss.”

“Chuck up the Deuces on that azz.”

Speaking of Seattle, Garnett’s former teammate with the Boston Celtics Ray Allen also has an interest in owning a piece of the Sonics.

This past Saturday, Allen was on stage in the NBA Courside Watch Party on Clubhouse answering a variety of different questions. Including when The founder of Girls Talk Sports TV, Khristina Williams asked Allen, if he had any interest in owning a piece of the Sonics.

“I would love for Seattle to have a team, and I would love to be part of the ownership. When I left Seattle in 07, so many were disenchanted with the ownership, and the one thing that I told them was, this is something people all over the world in any city with a sports team,” Allen shared.

“People were upset with the then owners, and I told them, listen, I wear Seattle on my chest, but I only wear it for a brief time. When I leave, this is your city. You always have to fight for your city, for your team, and the pride of what it is. You cannot lose a sports team in your city because it is a community resource.”

On Wednesday night after the Dallas Mavericks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 87-78, Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle shared that he missed Seattle as a city.

“I really miss Seattle as a city. One year, I sat out between my assistant coaching job with the Pacers and my head coaching job with Detriot. I did 41 games broadcasting for Seattle and spent a great bit of time out there, they have great fans, and it is an amazing city. Many of us have been around a long time miss the Seattle and Portland two-step that happened a lot on trips because those are two good cities,” said Carlisle.

“I know there is a great interest in having a franchise back there, and I know they would fill the building the way they used to. I remember the 79 championship team, and I got to play with Dennis Jones for three years in Boston. He was one of the stars on that team. There aren’t many people who remember the old Seattle experience that wouldn’t be enthusiastic about an NBA team landing there again.”

It has been 13 years since the Oklahoma City Thunder relocated to Oklahoma City from Seattle in 2008.
