NBA trade rumors: Celtics targeting Nikola Vucevic, Jerami Grant

The Boston Celtics are interested in Orlando Magic two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic and Detroit Pistons’ Jerami Grant, according to Shams Charania.

Regarding Grant, per Charania:

Among top trade targets for the Celtics: Detroit’s Jerami Grant, sources said. Grant is having a breakout season, averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is a leader for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.

However, the Pistons have “no interest” in moving the 26-year-old, despite receiving interest and trade offers from other teams, according to James Edwards III of The Athletic.

Grant “embodies everything Detroit wants its culture to be about,” notes Edwards.

Regarding Vucevic, per Charania:

The Celtics and Hornets are among teams interested in Magic two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic, sources said. Rival teams expect that any haul for Vucevic would have to be massive. The 7-foot big man is having his best NBA season, averaging 24.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from 3-point range. Vucevic has spent nine of his 10 NBA seasons in Orlando.

As noted by Charania, the Magic would expect quite the return in a possible trade for Vucevic, such as first round draft picks, prospects with upside and multiple key, contributing players.

Vucevic, 30, also told Charania that there’s “something special” about being with a franchise long-term and building a legacy there, which suggests that he has no plans of asking the Magic to deal him.

The March 25 NBA trade deadline is fast approaching and the rumors, reports and speculation will continue until then.
