Boston Celtics experienced many ups and downs this season so far having a 17-17 record heading to the All-Star Break. The Celtics were hit by COVID-19 protocols and injuries on crucial players of their roster.
Boston will look to upgrade its roster, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN. The Celtics are looking to add a wing, who can score to replace Gordon Hayward’s production, who signed with the Hornets last offseason.
The sign-and-trade of Hayward created a league-record $28.6 million trade exception. The Celtics can use this exception without losing a valuable part of their roster.
“Rival executives believe they are hunting for a player who can play either forward spot and provide some scoring punch—exactly the kind of player they lost when Hayward left,” Bontemps wrote.
Celtics are missing Marcus Smart due to injury since January using mostly rookies as back-ups in the guard and forward positions.
