Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Nate McMillan is going to be named interim head coach for the Atlanta Hawks, after the dismissal of Lloyd Pierce.

McMillan joined the Hawks last summer, after the Pacers, which was the coach for four seasons, terminated his contract. McMillan accepted the head coach position having the support of Lloyd Pierce, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

The veteran coach has a 667-591 record in sixteen seasons in the NBA with Seattle, Portland and Indiana. His last job was with the Pacers, where he led the team in four consecutive playoff appearances.

The Hawks had a 10-9 record in their first 19 games of the season, however they have lost 11 of their last 15 games heading to the All-Star Break.
