Recently, reports emerged that the Dallas Mavericks are checking the market value of Kristaps Porzingis for a potential trade. Several teams are reportedly monitoring the situation in acquiring the Latvian forward. Eventually, KP was asked the inevitable question about the rumors surrounding him.
“It came out and it is what it is. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, and I shouldn’t be too worried about it. It can only distract me at the end of the day. I try to focus on being in the moment,” Porzingis said, per Tim MacMahon.
Even though both the team owner Mark Cuban and head coach Rick Carlisle denied the reports, Porzingis did not seem convinced they were telling the truth.
“If it’s not in my hands, there’s no point in worrying or putting any extra thought in it. Control what I can control. At the end, it’s a business. I don’t know what’s going on,” he said.
This season, the 25-year-old forward is averaging 20.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He has played 17 out of Dallas’ 31 regular season games so far.
