Doc Rivers praises Dwight Howard after win over Mavericks

Philadelphia 76ers prevailed against Dallas thanks to their bench players, who had an excellent performance on Thursday’s matchup to keep the team in the top of the East.

Doc Rivers praised Dwight Howard, who was tremendous for his team with 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench. That performance allowed Rivers to reduce Joel Embiid’s play time to just 28 minutes in Thursday’s win.

“He was awesome tonight and he did it against a small lineup, a big lineup,” said coach Doc Rivers. “He dominated the glass, man, when he plays like that and is focused like that, he’s fantastic.

This is one of the best games he’s had for us and he’s been good overall, but tonight, I thought he really stood out,” Rivers said on his back-up center.

Howard has several ups and downs this season, however he is excellent in his role as the veteran back-up center of the Sixers’ squad.

Now, he and the rest of the bench needs to continue producing in both ends of the floor starting from Saturday’s matchup vs. the slumping Cleveland Cavaliers.
