Nets waiving three players, sign Tyler Cook

The Brooklyn Nets have waived three players – Noah Vonleh, Iman Shumpert and Andre Roberson – and plan to sign Tyler Cook, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Nets made the move ahead of the deadline to guarantee deals for the season.

Cook, who is averaging 20.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in the G League Bubble for the Iowa Wolves, will sign a 10-day contract with the Nets.

Despite being waived, Shumpert and Roberson intend to sign 10-day contracts with the Nets when they clear waivers on Feb. 26, notes Shams Charania.

The Nets are making these moves to keep roster flexibility in order to potentially have the space to get players via trade or the buyout market.

The team also is now free of having to guarantee their contracts for the whole season.

The window for teams to sign players to 10-day contracts opened on Feb. 23.
