Sixers forward Furkan Korkmaz was on a pretty miserable run of games lately coming off the bench. However, against the Raptors Tuesday, the forward had a strong start for his team to help the 76ers build the foundation of their win.

The forward from Turkey hit four three-pointers in the opening quarter putting up 16 points to propel the Sixers to 19-point lead against the Raptors.

“For me, that was a new challenge today,” said Korkmaz after the game. “I needed one of these games. The last four or five games, I was definitely struggling, we can definitely say that. Doc trusts me. He gave me the confidence to start the game and I think I did a good job.”

In a game that Seth Curry was unavailable due to an ankle issue, Korkmaz ended up with 19 points, on 5-of-11 shooting from deep, in the Sixers’ 109-102 victory over the Raptors.

Korkmaz started in the game with rookie shooting guard Isaiah Joe coming off the bench. Despite Curry’s absence, Tyrese Maxey got another DNP for the second game in a row.
