Panathinaikos completed a big transfer straight from the NBA signing Mario Hezonja for the remainder of the season. The Croatian international has expressed his desire to play for Panathinaikos and his love about the club’s fans.

In 2012, Hezonja signed with Barcelona and in 2015 he moved to the NBA after being selected with the fifth overall pick by the Orlando Magic in the 2015 NBA Draft. Hezonja finished the season making 79 appearances with the averages of 6.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists on 43.3 field goal percentage.

On 31 October 2017, Hezonja’s fourth-year option was not picked up by the Orlando Magic and in 6 July 2018, Hezonja moved to New York signing a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the New York Knicks.

On 3 July 2019, Hezonja signed a two-year, $3.7 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers.
