Philadelphia 76ers are expected to seek a move to improve their championship odds, according to Kevin O’Connor of the Ringer.
As the NBA insider states, the Sixers could pursue the Toronto Raptors’ veteran point guard Kyle Lowry. Lowry, who will be an unrestricted free agent next summer, could be the answer to Doc Rivers’ team shot creation issues, per O’Connor.
“The Sixers, meanwhile, could make a big acquisition of their own. League sources say Philadelphia, which came up short in its bid for Harden, is still seeking major moves to increase its championship odds. The trade market still needs to take shape in the coming weeks, so realistic targets are unclear.
But one name to monitor is Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, a 34-year-old Philadelphia native in the final season of his contract. A veteran perimeter shot-creator is the only piece the Sixers truly lack, and there aren’t many other players on Lowry’s level who are even theoretically available.”:
The Raptors’ leader is averaging 17.7 points, shooting 45 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from deep this season. He missed the last few games, including Sunday’s matchup against Philadelphia, due to a thumb injury.
After a slow start early in the season, Toronto found its footing and climbed the rankings in the Eastern Conference (16-15). The Sixers are still leading the East with a 20-11 record, despite a loss to the Raptors on Sunday.
