Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard was upset, after the Timberwolves did not hire former Blazers’ and now Wolves’ assistant coach David Vanterpool.
The Timberwolves announced the hiring of Chris Finch, who was an assistant for the Toronto Raptors and has a long history with general manager Gersson Rosas.
As a result, they dismissed Ryan Sanders from the position after a disappointing start in the 2020/21 regular season campaign.
Lillard expressed his frustration that Vanterpool was not hired instead, considering he was already an assistant. Vanterpool was a member of the Blazers’ staff from 2012-2017.
Vanterpool joined Minnesota back in 2019, and he has interviewed for several head coaching position, without receiving one so far.
