The Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis re-aggravated a strain in his right Achilles in a game versus the Denver Nuggets, which ruled him out of action for the near future.

He will be out for at least 2-3 weeks, but, according to Kendrick Perkins, the 27-year-old forward could return as late as the playoffs. Davis will be given as much time as he needs to fully recover from the injury.

“Well listen, I’m telling you Rich Paul called me this morning, Stephen A., and he told me to make it very, very clear that no one and nobody is going to rush Anthony Davis back, and his health is first,” the former NBA champion told Stephen A. Smith on Stephen A.’s world. “And he even said that if it’s leading up to the first or second week going into the postseason of AD return, then so be it. That’s how long Anthony Davis could be out.”

When asked whether Paul told him that it is possible that Davis will miss the remainder of this season, Perkins said he didn’t. Perk also agreed with Smith’s assessment that without AD the Lakers have no chance of repeating as the NBA champions.
