Wednesday’s Mavericks-Pistons game postponed due to winter weather

The game between the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons on Feb. 17 is being postponed due to a state of emergency in response to severe weather in Texas, according to Shams Charania.

This is the first non-COVID-19 related postponement of the NBA season and the 31st game to be postponed.

The Mavericks had to cancel today’s media availability because of a power outage at the team’s practice facility on day three of Dallas’ winter snowstorm, notes Marc Stein of The New York Times.

The next scheduled game for the Mavericks is against the Houston Rockets on Feb. 19.

The Pistons, meanwhile, now have back-to-back games postponed, as today’s game against the San Antonio Spurs was also postponed due to the Spurs having four players test positive for COVID-19.

The next scheduled game for the Pistons is now Feb. 19 against the Memphis Grizzlies.
