Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson out 4-6 weeks

New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson will undergo surgery on his fractured right hand next week and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Robinson suffered a fracture of the fourth metacarpal on his hand against the Washington Wizards on Feb. 12.

The 22-year-old was injured when his hand collided with teammate Julius Randle’s elbow as he attempted to block Rui Hachimura’s shot in the second quarter.

“He’s obviously bummed that he can’t be there with us on a night to night basis, but like I said, he’s in great spirits,” said Randle. “He’s a great teammate. And he’s gonna be there with us every step of the way still.”

In Robinson’s absence, Nerlens Noel (2.0 blocks per game) and veteran Taj Gibson will get more minutes at center, while Randle and rookie Obi Toppin could also play some minutes there too, according to head coach Tom Thibodeau.

In 27 games, Robinson is averaging 8.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in a career-high 28.8 minutes per game.
