Former NBA champion Metta World Peace was one of the toughest defenders in the league. His defensive skills were recognised in 2004 as he was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

He also made the NBA All-Defensive First Team twice in 2004 and 2006 as well as the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2003 and 2009.

On the newest episode of 1-ON-1 with Basketball Network, the 2010 NBA champion talked about his defensive ability, admitting that he considered himself the best defender in the league when he was playing. He was also confident about his position among the best defenders of all time.

“I felt like I was the best defender and I always felt like my defense was better than people’s offense so no matter who was up against me, my job that night was to be better than you on defense and that’s how I thought about my game,” World Peace said. “I would probably argue that I’m one of the best wing defenders to ever play the game…” he concluded.
