The defending NBA champions Los Angeles Lakers played their third straight overtime game as they edged the Oklahoma City Thunder 114-113.

Once again, LeBron James played the highest minutes (41) and was the top scorer for LA with 25 points. The Lakers found a path victory without Anthony Davis, who missed the game due to an injury.

After the game, the Lakers head coach Frank Vogel pointed at the fact that many teams lose a game like this, whereas his side managed to grind it out and win. “Look, these are the toughest game to play,” Vogel said. “You know, when you have a sub-500 team that comes with guys out. Everybody on their team is getting extra opportunity. They got the opportunity to sort of be the go-to guy and I’ve seen that with a few different games. Both Detroit and these two OKC games.

“We certainly got to be better. We’re not making things easy on ourselves. At the end of the day we’re doing enough to grind things out in the second half and do what we need to do to get that W. Happy to get three wins but certainly we got to be better.”

“Hey, teams lose games like this. We weren’t at our best in these three games but we found ways to grind them out and get three Ws,” he concluded.
