NBA says all teams will continue to play national anthem before games

The Dallas Mavericks will have to fall in line.

The NBA has declared all teams will observe its longstanding policy on playing the national anthem of the United States before basketball games.

The mandate follows Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban ordering that the anthem not be played prior to Mavs home games. The team hadn’t been doing so all season but it was only noticed on Monday after fans were let back into the American Airlines Center.

The NBA has since stepped in to let all teams know the anthem should be played in keeping with its policy.
