Draymond Green made a costly mistake at the end of the game between the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs. The Dubs were down by three points, with eight seconds left to play in the fourth quarter as they had an inbound.

The ball went to Green and he immediately took a deep three expecting a foul by the Spurs. Unfortunately for Golden State, there was no attempt to foul the 30-year-old as Gregg Popovich’s tactic is not to foul in such situations.

The Spurs took the rebound and were given two free throws, as the Dubs took an instant foul to stop the clock. In the end, San Antonio won 105-100. It was a wasted opportunity by Green to potentially tie the game or get closer.

After the game, the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr took responsibility for not telling the team the Spurs generally do not foul in such situations. “The Spurs generally do not foul in those situations. Probably my fault for not informing the team that the Spurs don’t usually foul (up three late),” he said per Anthony Slater.
