Spanish club Hereda San Pablo Burgos defeated South American representatives Quimsa 82-73 in the 2021 FIBA Intercontinental Cup from Buenos Aires despite a strong comeback effort by the Argentine side in the fourth quarter.

Burgos, who captured the Basketball Champions League title in last year’s Final 8, were propelled by a potent offense that scored 56 points in the opening half.

The European squad was led by Flint, Michigan native Thad McFadden, who scored 16 points and dished out five assists, and Vitor  Benite, who dropped 19 points. The Brazilian guard received MVP honors.

Dejan Kravic put up 12 points as a complimentary offensive piece, while Omar Cook dished out a team-high nine assists.

Quimsa reached the Intercontinental Cup behind a superb showing in the inaugural season of Basketball Champions League Americas, in which they rallied down 17 to win their Semi-Final before beating Flamengo in the Final.

In this matchup against Burgos, BCL America’s MVP Brandon Robinson led the show with 25 points on 8-of-18 shooting while Diamon Simpson added nine points and 10 rebounds. Fabian Ramirez was held in check with only four total points.
