Rockets’ Christian Wood leaves game in wheelchair

Houston Rockets’ Christian Wood badly rolled his right ankle and did not return to the game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The injury occurred when Wood stepped on Ja Morant’s foot on a fastbreak.

Wood attempted to stay in the game to shoot free throws, but he had to be helped off the court by teammates and ultimately went to the locker room in a wheelchair.

Here’s video of the injury:

Wood leaving the court:

Wood had 17 points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes against the Grizzlies.

The 25-year-old missed three games earlier in the season with a similar ankle injury, but this time, it will likely force him to miss more games.

While Wood is out, DeMarcus Cousins will fill in, as he played well in the games that Wood previously missed.

The latest news is that Wood will undergo an MRI on Feb. 5 to determine the severity of the ankle injury, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.
