Talen Horton-Tucker is one of the bright spots for the Los Angeles Lakers in their star-studded team, as the Chicago native is constantly getting minutes this season.
The 20-year-old guard talked to Mike Trudell about his basketball background coming from Chicago and how he idolized Derrick Rose and Anthony Davis-also Chicago natives.

“I was a big D-Rose fan, and growing up, seeing his path and everything he did since he went to the same high school, that was huge. And AD (Anthony Davis) too, being from Chicago, he and D-Rose were the two guys I wanted to see myself get to that type of level. So having AD here now is such a great experience.”
The Lakers’ promising guard is averaging 15.9 minutes per contest, after spending most of his time in G League during the 2019/20 campaign.
Last season, he got the chance to play in the postseason in the series against the Rockets. Frank Vogel threw the young rookie to a playoff game, but Tucker embraced the moment and scored 14 points in 17 minutes of play.
“It’s all Chicago. You see it in the guys that are from Chicago. You see it their grit and their toughness. We’re not going to back down. That’s something we carry with us anywhere we go.”
