Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeuos-Alexander will sit out his team’s clash with the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night due to a left knee sprain, per AT&T SportsNet SW Rockets sideline reporter Cayleigh Griffin.

The injury will see Shai miss his first game of the 2020/21 season, a campaign that has prompted a number of players getting sidelined across the league as the result of various injuries and COVID-19 protocols.

The 22-year-old is averaging 21.8 points a game for the Thunder in his first term as the team’s primary scoring option. He scored 19 points against the Rockets in a 136-106 loss on Monday, breaking a streak of five games in which he posted at least 20.
