The Los Angeles Lakers ended their seven-game road trip with a win over the Atlanta Hawks. The defending NBA champions won five of those games and, with 16 wins and 6 losses, remained third in the Western Conference.

After the game, the Lakers head coach Frank Vogel shared his thoughts on the game and what helped his team take the victory. He praised Dennis Schroder, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Alex Caruso for their defensive effort against Trae Young. The Hawks star finished the game with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 16 assists.

“A lot of speed, a lot of scrappiness, a lot of hustle. I thought those guys did a really good job on Trae Young,” Vogel said. “We did a better job taking the ball out of his hands in the second half.

He’s really really difficult to guard without fouling him. We gave him his average free-throw attempt, 11, it could be better.

“But for their team they shot 17. I think we did a good job with the rest of those guys. We took the ball out of Trae’s hands. He gives it to the bigs at the rim, our guys swarming the paint, making those types of plays. But Alex, KCP and Dennis were really good just trying to stay with Trae.”
