NBA to have dunk and three-point contest at All-Star Weekend?

The NBA and NBPA are discussing the addition of both a dunk and three-point contest to the proposed All-Star Game in Atlanta on the weekend of March 6-7, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Talks are ongoing for what the revised All-Star 2021 would entail, but “momentum was clearly building last week,” Stein adds.

Last week, the league and the NBPA began discussing scenarios to hold an All-Star Game this season in Atlanta, the home of Turner Sports.

That idea also includes providing support for HBCU’s and COVID-19 relief.

Chris Paul, the NBPA president, is in favor of playing an All-Star Game.

Back in November, the league originally announced that the 2021 All-Star Game in Indianapolis was postponed until 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NBA All-Star voting is currently open until Feb. 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET and it seems that the voting could be for an actual game instead of just a symbolic place on the All-Star teams.
