Metta Sandiford-Artest opened up about the rivalry between the Lakers and the Celtics, who face each other on Saturday.
Sandiford-Artest, who won the 2010 title with the Lakers over the Celtics, explained why the rivalry between the two franchises is not as ‘heated’ as it used to be.
“[Because] in 2010 you had Pierce and Garnett and Ray Allen, right? Three Hall of Famers, and even Rajon Rondo, another Hall of Famer. And one could argue that Rasheed Wallace is a Hall of Famer, you could argue that. There was different things at stake.
It’s not like that right now because these guys are really young and there’s a lot of uncertainty. We don’t know how good they’re going to be when their career is over. Versus the Lakers, you know where LeBron and A.D. are going when their career is over,” Sandiford-Artest told Lakers Nation.
The Lakers are seeking to repeat this season, whereas the Celtics want to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.
