Dennis Smith Jr. has requested to play with the New York Knicks’ G League affiliate, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. Bondy claims the Knicks are expected to accept Smith’s proposal.

Smith has played in just three games this season receiving a limited time of meaningful minutes so far this season. The Knicks acquired Smith from the Dallas Mavericks ahead of the 2019 trade deadline.

He was a significant part of the Porzingis’ deal.The 23-year-old guard has averaged 12.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game through 159 career appearances in the NBA.

The Westchester Knicks are among the 18 teams set to participate in G League’s one-month long ‘bubble’ at Walt Disney World starting Feb. 10.

After a 15-game long regular season, the best eight teams will participate in a single-elimination knockout tournament.
