Warriors’ Steve Kerr praises James Wiseman after career-high performance vs. Timberwolves

James Wiseman came off the bench against the Minnesota Timberwolves to record a career-high and propelled the Golden State Warriors to their second consecutive win.

Golden State head coach Steve Kerr praised the rookie for his play and his mentality, after he was elected to help his team from the bench since last week.

“I’ve said it many times,” Kerr explained during a postgame media session. “He’s not only talented, but he’s got a great head on his shoulders.

So, this is a young guy who is very mature and wants to win and competes and works his butt off, so it’s pretty exciting,” Steve Kerr continued.

“Three college games, [playing in] a pandemic, nine months of individual workouts and no training camp. It’s really stunning how quickly he is picking up things.

Again, it’s a sign not only of his athletic gifts but, more importantly, his brain, his intelligence, his wisdom beyond his years. It’s remarkable to see.”

The second overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft had 25 points and six rebounds on an efficient 9-14 shooting. He also had three makes from the three-point range including two back-to-back threes in the first quarter.

The Warriors improved to 10-8 after sweeping the two-game mini series versus the Minnesota Timberwolves at Chase Center. They are set to play five of their next seven games on the road.
