Bulls’ Wendell Carter Jr. out with quad contusion

The Chicago Bulls will miss Wendell Carter Jr. for at least the next four weeks with a quad contusion. The Bulls conducted an MRI on Tuesday to assess Carter’s injury severity.

The player will continue his daily therapy regimen and be re-evaluated in four weeks. Carter averages 12.8 points and 8.0 rebounds in 26.9 minutes this season with the Chicago Bulls.

Early in his career, the Bulls’ big battled injuries that kept him out of action for more than a month. In his rookie season, a thumb injury ended his season prematurely.

Last year, he missed 22 games due to a bad ankle sprain. With Carter out, Daniel Gafford is expected to receive an extended increase in minutes, while Lauri Markannen and Thad Young could also be considered potential stopgaps.
