NBA postpones Grizzlies’ next three games

The NBA has postponed the Memphis Grizzlies’ next three games on Jan. 22 against the Portland Trail Blazers and Jan. 24 and Jan. 25 against the Sacramento Kings.

“The games are being postponed due to unavailable players for the Grizzlies and contact tracing for other players on their roster, and in order to ensure the health and safety of players on both teams,” according to a statement released by the league.

In addition to these three games, the Grizzlies also had their last scheduled game against the Trail Blazers on Jan. 20 postponed as well.

As of earlier this week, center Jonas Valanciunas was the only known player out due to health and safety protocols, but it appears that there are a number of players now in contact tracing.

The NBA is erring on the side of caution with what still appears to be an isolated COVID-19 exposure within the Grizzlies, as these postponements aren’t a result of several individuals being placed into the league’s health and safety protocol, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
