Luka Doncic took the blame for the Dallas Mavericks loss against the Chicago Bulls. The 21-year-old Slovenian star finished the game with 36 points, 16 rebounds and 15 assists. However, 30 of his points came in the first half as he struggled to score in the second half.

Despite Doncic’s dominance in the first half, it was the Bulls that had control of the game. Chicago won the first quarter by 4 points and the second one by 11. It was the lead built in the first half that the Bulls kept to take the win 117-101. After the game Doncic admitted that he was too selfish in the first half.

Via Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News:

“That’s on me, the game,” Doncic said of an afternoon that saw him score 30 of his points in the first half, including 20 in the second quarter. “I would say I was being selfish a little bit because I had 30 points in the first half.

“That wasn’t me in the second half. I’ve got to do way better than that. That’s just on me. I shouldn’t be doing this.”

Following the defeat the Mavs dropped to 6-6 while the Bulls improved to 5-8. That puts Dallas in the 7th place in the Western Conference. On the other hand, Chicago is 11th in the East.
