Jusuf Nurkic to undergo surgery on fractured wrist

Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic will undergo surgery on his fractured right wrist and miss at least eight weeks, according to Shams Charania.

Nurkic, 26, suffered the injury against the Indiana Pacers on Jan. 14 after attempting to swipe the ball from Malcolm Brogdon as he drove to the basket.

If the eight week-plus timetable holds up, Nurkic will miss about over a third of the 72-game season, assuming all of the games until he returns are played without COVID-19 postponements.

With Nurkic out, the Trail Blazers will rely on big men Enes Kanter and Harry Giles.

In 12 games, Nurkic was averaging 9.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
