James Harden on the way Rockets’ tenure ended: “Some things were out of my character”

James Harden officially joined the Brooklyn Nets, after the conclusion of the four-team blockbuster trade on Friday. The 2018 MVP made his first statement as a member of the Nets.

Harden also talked about the end of his Rockets’ eight-year tenure and admitted that some things felt out of character for him, especially in the way he settled things with the franchise in the end.

(via Brian Lewis of NY Post):

“I regret because I’m not the type of guy to… I don’t need the attention, especially the negative energy. I’ve never been that guy. So there were some things that I felt like (were) out of my character.”

Harden demanded a trade to a contending team before the start of the preseason camp. One of the first preferred destinations was the Brooklyn Nets.

The All-Star joined an already star-studded team with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Nets gave up a huge draft compensation to the Rockets, while they parted ways with Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, and Rodion Kurucs.

With Harden in the mix, the Nets are instantly becoming one of the strong favorites to win the championship along with the Los Angeles Lakers.
