The Washington Wizards are now up to five players who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Shams Charania and Fred Katz of The Athletic.
A third player tested positive on Jan. 14, so two more have joined them.
It remains unclear how many players are involved in contact tracing.
Rui Hachimura and Moritz Wagner are the only players that are publicly known to be in the league’s health and safety protocols.
The Wizards last played on Jan. 11 against the Phoenix Suns and have had two games postponed this week – Jan. 13 against the Utah Jazz and Jan. 15 against the Detroit Pistons.
It seems likely that the team’s next two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18 will be postponed in light of today’s news.
The Wizards could be without some of the players who tested positive for a while.
Players who test positive must go through a 10-14 day quarantine, which could be longer if a player experiences symptoms.
Then, they have a two-day ramp up period and have to pass a cardio screening test before returning to the court.
