For the first time in 73 years, the Los Angeles Lakers are 7-0 on the road following a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Things are different at home for the Purple & Gold. They are 3-3 at Staples Center.

Lakers legend James Worthy joined Mike Bresnahan to discuss the team’s home and away performances. According to him, the key to success on the road is defense.

“It’s difficult. To go on the road and be successful, especially back-to-back road road game. But the Lakers have proven they know how to win on the road,” Worthy said. “The take a philosophy on the road. Defensively is where they start. When they start with their defense, they get clicking. I think that’s been a major part of their road play.”

When it comes to home games, the three-time NBA champion thinks the players are get comfortable and there is less focus on defense which leads to losses.

“When you get home, you get comfortable. You let your guards down a little bit. You got your family. You’re going to the barber if your barber’s shop is open. You’re doing things that you don’t do when you’re on the road.

“When you’re on the road, it’s just the players. They seem to do a pretty good job. I heard LeBron say when they’re on the airplane, when they’re on the bus.

They’re not getting a lot of practice time but they are getting together time. I think you just bring that back to the home court and just start the way they start on the road with defense.”
