Rockets’ Eric Gordon on James Harden’s trade: “We can just move forward”

The Houston Rockets finally pulled the trigger on the James Harden trade and decided to part ways with their superstar after eight years.

The Rockets made a great number of roster changes in the past offseason recalibrating their roster with the additions of Christian Wood, John Wall, and DeMarcus Cousins.

With that in mind, Eric Gordon believes the Rockets are ready to move on into a real direction as a franchise after trading away James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets.

“Obviously, you could tell from the summer and since the season started that he didn’t want to be here,” Gordon told reporters Thursday, per ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

“For us, I think it just gives us a chance to [have] a real direction. Everyone else on the team can hone in and not worry about his situation. We can just move forward.”

Houston’s compensation in the deal is four first-round picks (the Nets’ in 2022, 2024, and 2026 and Milwaukee’s 2022 via Cleveland), the right to swap first-rounders with the Nets in four other years, ex-Cavs guard Dante Exum and former Nets guard Caris LeVert and forward Rodions Kurucs.

Caris LeVert will be re-directed to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Victor Oladipo, who was also rumored to want out of his current team the last few months.
