Liga Endesa round up (week 5)

Only one place to start in our round up of the Liga Endesa for week five as Joventut Badalona win the Catalan derby.

SUTON STRIKES

A pull-up jumper with two seconds left from Goran Suton gave Joventut Badalona a shock 83-82 road win over Liga Endesa champions Barcelona.

Sitapha Savane led the winners with 20 points as Badalona hand Barcelona their first loss of the season.

EUROLEAGUE WATCH

Unicaja Malaga and Real Madrid are the two remaining unbeaten sides in the Liga Endesa. Malaga beat winless Gipuzkoa 74-59 at home, while Real Madrid were impressive in their 90-71 beating of Valencia.

Last season’s runners-up were ruthless, breaking away to a 25-12 lead after one, and never looking back. Ionnis Borousis led five Madrid players with 15 points.

Laboral Kutxa seem to be back on track after notching their second straight win as they demolished Bruixa d’Or 87-67. Sasha Vujacic had 21 points for the Vitoria-based side.

ANDORRA WIN AGAIN

Andorra seemingly enjoys playing at home as they defeated Gran Canaria 91-86 for their second win of the season.

The hot favourites for the drop have started better than expected as Betinho Gomes’ 23 points, which included five triples was enough for the league’s new boys.

ELSEWHERE…

Bilbao beat Seville 89-61 as Seville remains without a win this season. Zaragoza dismantled UCAM Murcia 82-63. Tenerife find themselves fifth in the Liga Endesa after collecting an impressive 82-63 away win against Rio Monbus.
