Nine Celtics’ players out due to protocols, injury ahead of game vs. Heat

The Boston Celtics announced that nine players are not expected to be available ahead of Sunday’s game against the Miami Heat.

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Javonte Green, Semi Ojeleye, Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams and Robert Williams are all out due to the league’s COVID-19 protocols.

Kemba Walker and Romeo Langford are out with knee and wrist injuries, respectively. That leaves the Celtics with potentially just eight active players for tonight’s Eastern Conference showdown.

The Celtics are expected to face the next few games being dramatically shorthanded, according to Tim Bontemps. More specifically, it is unlikely that any of the seven players out due to the league’s protocols will return before Friday.

Furthermore, the franchise cornerstone Jayson Tatum is going to remain in quarantine for the next 10-14 days as has been reported by Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic.
