Four Celtics players dealing with health and safety protocols

Boston Celtics’ Grant Williams, Robert Williams, Tristan Thompson and Carsen Edwards are listed as questionable for the team’s next game due to health and safety protocols, the team announced.

The Celtics play the Washington Wizards on Jan. 8.

The four players possibly came in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and therefore, could be in a contact tracing situation, notes ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

It’s also possible that one of the players could have tested positive or even had an inconclusive test result.

In eight games, Thompson, the only regular starter of the four players, is averaging 8.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Backup center Robert Williams (16.4 minutes per game) and forward Grant Williams (19.1 minutes per game) are key members of the frontcourt rotation.

Edwards has played four games, only averaging 7.3 minutes per game.
