The Philadelphia 76ers hold off against Bradley Beal 60-point eruption to defeat the Washington Wizards and remain at the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Sixers’ head coach Doc Rivers explained why he elected to put Matisse Thybulle and Danny Green instead of Ben Simmons on the Wizards’ superstar that ended up recording a new career-high.

“We liked what Ben was doing as a roamer tonight, off of (Russell) Westbrook, they’ve been able to run. We thought it would allow him to get a lot of rebounds and push the break. We felt strongly that we can get a lot of easy baskets. So that part of it worked. The other part didn’t,” Rivers said after his team’s 136-141 prevalence.

The Sixers kept Beal on check in the fourth quarter, as the Wizards’ super-scorer registered just three points shooting 1-of-6 from the field.

Doc Rivers’ team will face another perimeter player that could score heavy against the Sixers on Thursday, as Philadelphia will face off the Kyrie Irving-led Brooklyn Nets.
