Strasbourg win on the road, Kuban send message, Eurocup round up

Strasbourg sit top of Group A in the Eurocup tonight after they beat Reggio Emila 66-59 to improve to 3-0.

The hosts led by two entering the fourth quarter and were still within a single point with three minutes to go, but Ali Traore scored two important baskets down the stretch to help seal the win.

The result dropped Reggio Emilia to 1-2. Axel Toupane led the winners with 13 points, Matt Howard scored 11 and Louis Campbell tallied 10 points and 6 assists, as Strasbourg out rebounded their Italian counterparts 36-24.

Rimantas Kaukenas led Reggio Emilia with 13 points with Andrea Cinciarini adding 12.

Eurocup favourites Lokomotiv Kuban were ruthless in their 87-46 demolition of previously unbeaten PAOK in Group F in Krasnodar.

Leading 45-26 at half-time, Kuban went on to hold their Greek opponents to 7 points in the third to extend the lead further to 62-33. From there, the game was never in doubt.

Maxim Grigoryev and Krunoslav Simon led the winners with 15 points apiece, Derrick Brown scored 14 and Anthony Randolph added 11, as Kuban go to 3-0.

“We showed a lot of respect to the opponent and started the game playing tough defence from the first minutes,” Simon said afterwards. “The final score says everything about our attitude. PAOK kept it competitive in the first quarter when they made a few shots, but already in the second we felt that game was on our side completely.”

Julian Vaughn led the PAOK attack with 12 points and Kostas Kakaroudis netted 11 in defeat.
