The Los Angeles Lakers legend Derek Fisher thinks that the roster changes made by the defending NBA champions this past offseason can make them a top 10 defensive team in the league.
“I think this season how teams are gonna fare out offensively is still shaping up. There’ve been some injuries with some teams. But I do believe this Lakers team is equipped to be a top 10 defensive team in the league,” Fisher said.
“Different than last year’s team which finished third in terms of the shot blocking and athleticism of Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee at the basket. But Dennis Schroder’s ability to put pressure on the basketball. Wes Matthews is another good perimeter defender.
“You add him next to a healthy KCP, Alex Caruso and then LeBron and AD continuing to do their thing defensively. And then you got Marc Gasol one of the great anchors in the middle. I think they have the makings of the top 10 defense.”
